Hundreds of people are expected to turn up to witness the eclectic and colourful display of kites which are set to punctuate the aerial space above this rural town, which is characterised by pastoral scenes and set against the lofty backdrop of the Outeniqua Mountains, making it the ideal venue for an event of this nature.

Knysna to hold Timber Festival at crossroads moment

Knysna’s annual timber festival – from 11 to 13 November, 2016 – will take place at a crossroads moment for the economy of the Garden Route. “The Knysna Timber Festival focuses on the experience – what forestry and woodworking have to offer in terms of skills, jobs, and tourism, and how massively they impact on the local economy,” said the vice-chairperson of the Knysna Timber Initiative, Jock McConnachie.

 Leisure Isle Festival – for two days it is ‘Treasure Isle’

The Leisure Isle Festival brings to mind the children’s classic novel ‘Treasure Island’ by R L Stevenson. Stevenson’s novel relates a story of an island on which a large hoard of gold has been hidden. For the past fourteen years Leisure Isle has presented a festival that encourages thousands of eager treasure seekers to search for their piece of treasure.

Gorgeous Goukamma – Paradise on our door

It was a fresh, early October morning and I was on a mission – to capture through the lens and best paint a picture with words, the beauty of the Goukamma Nature Reserve and Marine Protected Area. So there I was, standing on the blissfully deserted Goukamma beach, during a spring-low tide, staring out at the big blue as it collided with the shoreline.

HARKERVILLE FOREST RUN

A great 10km or 26km forest run on 01 December 2016!  This event forms part of  the Quteniqua Quest, but is a separate event on its own. Start from Harkerville Hut on Sunday and end at Harkerville Hut.  Registration and Late Entries on Sunday morning 06:30-07:30, followed by Race Briefing at 07:45 with the race starting at 08:00.
